چکیده

A neuronal model made of two interconnected parts-a den-drite and a trigger zone-is considered under the action of white noise and periodic inputs acting on the dendritic compartment. It is shown analytically how the variability of the depolarization potential is decreased from the dendritic to the trigger zone for subthreshold behavior. These ltering properties of the model are also shown when a reset mechanism is included at the trigger zone compartment.

Two-compartment stochastic model of a neuron

A two-compartment neuronal model is investigated. The model neuron is composed of two interconnected parts – a dendrite and a trigger zone, with a white noise input in the dendritic compartment. The first and the second moments of the stochastic processes describing the membrane depolarization in both compartments are derived and investigated. When a firing threshold is not imposed, the level o...

Stochastic Resonance and Multi-modal Firing Patterns in Single-neuron Models

In analyzing data from experiments on periodically stimulated neurons, the interspike interval histogram shows a multi-modal distribution and under certain conditions, stochastic resonance. We discuss a simple in tegrate and fire model of a single neuron which is capable of describing these two features. As input for the neuron we use a periodic signal combined with poisson noise, this gives r...

Enhanced Stochastic Resonance in Threshold Detectors

We study the influence of noise modulation on the detection of subthreshold periodic signals in threshold detectors under the paradigm of stochastic resonance. More particularly, we show that having an input noise amplitude modulated by the input signal can enhance the phenomenon of stochastic resonance. We then apply this result to a neuron model for which the noise modulation mechanism is an ...

Autonomous stochastic resonance in bursting neurons

Noise-induced firing is studied in two major classes of bursting neuron models in the absence of periodic input. In the biologically relevant subthreshold regime where no deterministic firing occurs, additive noise induces spiking limit cycles. This noise makes the output firing patterns sensitive to the characteristics of autonomous subthreshold oscillations, which can change in response to va...

Stochastic resonance in a model neuron with reset

The response of a noisy integrate-and-fire neuron with reset to periodic input is investigated. We numerically obtain the first-passage-time density of the pertaining Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process and show how the power spectral density of the resulting spike train can be determined via Fourier transform. The neuron’s output clearly exhibits stochastic resonance.
